LHYC Great Britain Circumnavigation 2024

Three boats, Daydream, a Beneteau 31, sailed by Nick Funnel, Foreness, a Sadler 290, sailed by Michael Frankish and Jeddo, a Westerly Fulmar 32, sailed by David Metcalfe, plan to sail around Great Britain, hopefully we will be loading the boats on the afternoon tide of Monday 13th and setting off early on 14th or 15th May (depending on the rain). A voyage of over 2000 miles. Each will sail singlehanded, but with the possibility that crew may join for periods along the way. It is looking likely that we will be setting off in an anticlockwise direction, West along the Channel. Two of the three boats are equipped with AIS, so we can be tracked on Vessel finder or Marine traffic. Below you will find Vessel finder maps showing current positions and tracks. We will try and keep this page updated with our progress with pictures and videos. If you would like to receive email updates, please subscribe on this page.

A couple of people have asked if we are doing this for charity. We have decided that if anyone would like to donate to spur us along, any donations will go to Sheerness RNLI Lifeboat Station’s RNLI 200 year anniversary appeal Just Giving page

Jeddo and Foreness are equipped with a Class B AIS transponder, sending position reports every 30 seconds when moving faster than 2kts. However, Class B only transmits at 2 Watts, which may not reach shore stations when offshore away from land or in more remote areas, especially mountainous areas.
