A very uneventful day, other than Summer seemed to arrive in Scotland….At last. There was one drawback, no wind, so we motored the whole way, but just 24Nm to Whitehills. The shorts came back out and sailing in a tee shirt rather than several layers to keep warm and dry made a big difference. Various people had said we should see dolphins and porpoises, but they certainly weren’t playing during our trip.
One thing that surprised me was the number of small harbours we passed on this stretch of coast.
We arrived in Whitehills with a warning that there had been silting in the entrance and to keep close to the North wall. On entering it was like a blind alley with the old lifeboat station and slip dead ahead. The entrance to the Outer harbour wasn’t visible. When it came into sight it was a 12m wide 90 degree turn to port. We went in to find the very helpful harbour master waiting to take our lines and were soon tied up.
This morning we are on our way to Peterhead. It’s warm, but very little wind again.
