Day 4 Left Cowes on our way to Portland or Weymouth

Yesterday was another wet day and no wind, so engine running all day again apart from a brief attempt of sailing off Selsey, but my speed dropped so the engine went back on. Our initial plans were to head into Gosport and visit Hardway Sailing Club, but looking at todays tides, it would have meant a very early departure to get out of the Needles Channel before the tide turned against us. We considered anchoring in Osborne bay, but apparently there is sea grass growing on the sea bed and a chance sea horses may be grazing, so anchoring is either banned or frowned upon. There were other boats anchored there, but it was a little lumpy and may not have been a very comfortable night. We carried on a little to Cowes and up the Medina River to the Folly Inn pontoon and had a very enjoyable evening. This morning was another fairly early start at 06.00, but the early mist has cleared and the sun is out as we currently approach Hurst Castle and the Needles Channel. Oh, and no wind again. Hopefully there may be some later.

You are making great progress. Shame about the lack of wind. Super photos.
