A pretty uneventful day yesterday. We stayed at Tobermory until lunch time before setting off to Loch Sunart just across the Sound of Mull. Loch Sunart is described in the pilot books as a delightful Loch often missed out by visiting yachts. There are numerous anchorages. As we approached Michael decided he wanted a quiet afternoon to sort out a few things on the boat, so went into Loch Na Droma Buidhe. I continued on several miles taking in the breathtaking sights of Loch Sunart avoiding the hidden rocks. On my return I got a bit more adventurous passing to the North of the Island of Risga. The Island has a vertical cliff face dropping into 15m of water, the other side of the channel was a little less defined, so I hugged the cliffs. Not quite touching distance, but it felt like it.
I continued back past some idyllic anchorages back to Loch Na Droma Buidhe where I had left Michael. It was quite crowded and deep. My first attempt at anchoring between Foreness and the neighbouring boat failed with the anchor not gripping and was probably too close to Foreness anyway. I moved to another spot, but was closer to the rocks than I really wanted to be and the anchor wasn’t holding as well as I would have liked. As I was running out of options I stayed put. It was well sheltered and the boat didn’t drag at all.
Today we are on our way to Muck.
