Day 5 Portland to Dartmouth

After my post about Portland Bill yesterday, not a lot happened. We set course for Dartmouth about 43nM and motored straight across Lyme bay expecting the forecast rain that never came apart from a light shower as we reached Dartmouth. The trip across Lyme Bay took us upto about 16nM offshore. Arriving in Dartmouth we found it very busy with the Dartmouth Music Festival in full swing. Visitor berths were in short supply but with the guidance of the very helpful harbour launch we were soon moored up on the furthest visitor pontoon from town. A VHF call to the Yacht taxi got us a ride ashore for £1 each. After a visit to the Yacht Club for some refreshment we bought fish and chips. Despite the town being heaving, service at the chip shop was extremely quick. We found somewhere to perch against on the quay and I then discovered my fish and chips was missing the fish. A dash back around the corner and it was soon fixed and I returned with a huge piece of fish rather than the smaller standard portion I had paid for. After a walk around the town enjoying the atmosphere we had another visit to the YC and returned to the boats Today we are on our way to the River Yealm.
