We awoke to rain landing on the boats. It hadn’t let up by 10.00, our agreed starting time. Full water proofs on again and up with the anchors. The breeze was behind us so there was no shelter under the spray hood. Ever since I have had Jeddo there has always been a piece of blue waterproof fabric with a rope stitched around three sides. I have never really worked out what it was for. It wasn’t a perfect fit but it covered the companionway and I didn’t need to put the washboards in to keep the rain out of the cabin. With the breeze behind us we were soon sailing and the engines off heading across the Firth of Lorn towards the Sound of Mull. Just off Mull the rain eased off and we followed the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory. A few miles in we could see. Huge cruise ship had entered the Sound of Mull. We were expecting it to catch us up and overtake us. However it was only just creeping up on us. We were sailing at around 6kts an checking on AIS the cruise ship was only doing just over 7kts. It was a little unnerving knowing it was there and capable of well over twice the speed it was doing. It never actually caught us up and we turned into Tobermory harbour. The cruise ship appeared to be following us in but turned around and never actually entered the harbour. It was quite busy, but we managed to get on to the pontoons and have been able to stretch our legs without relying on a dinghy.
