Another relatively short day, just 23 nm from the beautiful Caladh Harbour to Ardrishaig. The morning started not that cold and no wind. We set off down West Kyle and bit of light breeze picked up and we had a gentle sail down the stretch of water that separated Bute from mainland Scotland. The breeze made it feel cold so extra layers went on. We reached the bottom of West Kyle and turned into Loch Fine with what breeze there was right on the nose. A gentle motor along the Loch to Ardrishaig. The sun came out and the breeze dropped and it got quite warm. Some Harbour Porpoises were breaking the water a few hundred meters to port, but as they do in our home waters, totally ignored us. We reached Ardrishaig and moored on the Sea Lock waiting pontoon for the night to wait for our booked slot in the morning to enter the Crinan Canal. We have a 4 day license to cover the 9 miles of canal through 14 locks and 7 bridges. Tomorrow is threatening strong wind and heavy rain, so we may keep the first section very short and shelter from the rain. The next couple of days the weather should be better, so we can poodle along and enjoy the view. It would seem that two stairs of locks can be challenging for single handers. The lady in the office has told us that she will get the canal staff to look out for us and help us through.
