This note has gone onto the Village website. I suggest boat owners at the bottom of the yard should check their vessels.
Trespass at the yacht club premises, 4 juveniles, possibly aged around 10 to 14 were trespassing on the Yacht club premises yesterday 3rd January commencing 14.25. They have been recorded on CCTV. The elder girl with long 2 tone hair carrying a carrier bag and a boy same height with a baseball cap followed by another female and male who appear smaller and younger.
They activated the CCTV and were recorded as walking the length of the stored boats viewing each as they passed. At the end of the yard and about 10 minutes later they were recorded as running back to the sea wall to the village. If you think you know who these children are please advise their parents so the dangers can be pointed out to them.
I have checked Enliven and the boats along the back fence and all appear untouched.
Following this I was informed a ladder was left up against the stern of Azurian and a scuff to the paintwork had been caused otherwise all looked secure. I was isolating at the time but went to investigate as soon as able. The ladder which was not mine had been placed under the boat in case it was my property after all. No damage other than the minor paint blemish seems to have been done nor anything obviously removed. There were some footprints in the cockpit but these may have been left by my son and I a week or so prior.
The step ladder I have locked in the oar store – if your’s is missing it may be there. Please please everybody take your ladders home or lock them up otherwise it just makes it too easy for pilferers or vandals. My boat has been broken into in the past so now nothing of value is left on board nor is it locked as repairing damage can be more hassle than replacing what may have gone missing. If it has happened before it can happen again.
