Roger Elkington

We have heard the very sad news that Roger Elkington passed away yesterday morning (Friday). Roger has been suffering with various health problems for some time. He had been in hospital for the past week after suffering a heart attack.

Roger a long term member, committee member and former commodore of the club will be sorely missed by many. Our thoughts go out to his wife Pam.

Hello Dave, what sad news. I have fond memories of Roger and his energy and enthusiasm. The spirit of Lower Halstow in many ways. Sadly I don’t have an address to which to send my condolences to Pam. Please could you pas them on to her. Thanks thanks. Please keep safe yourself. It looks as if covid limitations will prevent me getting down to Kent. I hope all goes well. Best wishes tinged with sadness from Dick Cole

Indeed Sad news. Memories of Roger on lift-in/outs when crane used, together with lift out suppers. He contribributed so much time and energy working @LHYC.
Ditto please pass on condolences to Pam as unlikely to be able to visit Kent in current climate.
    Best regards Ken Milburn

Oh dear. I knew he had not been well for quite some time. He was a familiar face around the club since so long back I cannot remember when. When he took over organizing the crane lifts he did a super job year after year. La Poubelle was on the next mooring to mine so I shall remember him often.

Very sad news, Roger was always smart and welcoming usually with his spaniel at his side, he loved LHYC and walked there daily, that’s why whenever I went sailing he was normally there, he will be missed.
    RIP Roger

Morning Dave, Just catching up on posts and read the very sad news of Roger’s passing. Although many years ago now, I use to thoroughly enjoy working with Roger on work parties, lift out, committee meetings, normally followed by a few pints and good yarn in the The Three Tuns. Pam may not remember me as I haven’t seen her for at least 16 years, but I remember Pam. Please pass on my condolences. RIP Roger,
    Best Wishes
    Paul Browne
