Pursuit Race Saturday 19th June
Six Boats set off on Saturday morning for our annual Pursuit Race. The wind was light up to a maximum of about 12kts at its most. It certainly didn’t favour the bigger boats this year. Andy and Ivor set off in their Pandora “Jess” at 08:37 and disappeared not to be seen apart from a fleeting glimpse in the distance having already gone around Spile and heading back towards the No 7 buoy. The rest of us battling to hold or gain positions. With Nereides losing their way and and going on a site seeing trip off Leysdown, they dropped back a few places. The lighter Azurian got the better of Jeddo on the downwind leg after the Spile. Having tailed behind Jeddo and Azurian most of the way, Broadsword gained the edge by flying a kite and genoa coming into the Medway, only to lose 2nd place by cutting the corner at Slaughterhouse point to fine and coming to an abrupt stop allowing Azurian to retake 2nd place.
A great day on the water.
