New Yardmaster

Hello,
I expect many of you will already know that Melvyn Worrell has taken on the role of yardmaster. He has been assisting for some time and is more than capable of successfully dealing with the pitfalls of a sometime difficult task. John Williams will continue to assist and Roger Bromley will also assist.
We should consider all of us to be his assistants, so to ensure that everything runs smoothly, please know your own responsibilities in relations to lifts, which are detailed on your lift confirmation emails.
Keep the yard and facilities clean and tidy and treat club equipment and each other with respect.
To make Mel’s job easier please use the yardmaster email account for communication, which can be accessed from the club home page, contact page, if you’re not already familiar.
Early booking of lifts is appreciated and will avoid disappointment.

Graham.

To Mel – and also Graham, Only thing that comes to mind yardwise is the way weedkillers ( I think) have been used in the yard. How have they affected birds and plants. EG Oystercatchers. Were weedkillers used a few years ago ? Looked like it to me anyway. A plant which I believe to be the ‘Weld’ was quite widespread over the yard until I believe weedkillers must have been used a few years ago to control plant growth. There is still quite a lot of Mayweed – but the plant ‘Weld’ now seems restricted to a handful of plants near the bench not far from the flagpole. In season they have tall yellow flower spikes. I used to like them very much ! I am not sure how significant the loss of this traditional plant is -or how widespread in the local area – the plant used to be used in the old days for dye. Certainly these issues ought in my opinion to be at at least looked into. A perfectly ‘tidy’ yard may not be the best aim ?? Maybe all this was looked into in depth ? All best Ralph B (Tiki).
