At the AGM I stated I was considering the option of setting up a mooring team, who would make themselves available to assist with mooring work. I mentioned that I thought it would not be unreasonable for those doing the work to receive some form of reward whilst those in receipt of the work might make payment. I was deliberately vague about the details because at the time, I had not had the opportunity to properly discuss it with the rest of the committee
I envisaged two options;
1 Team members would receive some level of discount on fees. This would be financed by set fees for the amount of work involved. The committee had a reluctance to have any system that looked like payment to club members for doing work for the club. This would also require more administration.
2. The preferred approach was to create a list of members willing to assist others with mooring work. This list would be available to all and those members unable to do their own work for whatever reason or those who just need some assistance with checking their own mooring could just ask. Alternatively request could be made via the mooring master.
Any payment would be a matter for those involved and not the club.
In reality this is an extension of the current system of self – help. Currently there a few groups of individuals who get together every year to help with each other’s moorings and if that could be extended to a larger proportion of the membership then all the better.
Please reply if you would be willing to be included mooring team. It would also be helpful if you could let me know if feel you are not able to check you’re own mooring or have any concerns or questions about checking moorings.

Hi Graham I’m happy to help with this.
Regards Melvyn
I’ve done my 1st stint already!
Happy to do two more this year, perhaps 3 or 4 next year, I suggest rostering more than required as there will always be no shows, and some need to gain experience. I think the owner should be responsible for refreshments. Mick Griffin did us proud!
I’m willing to help out with the mooring inspections, as I have previously, but with physical limitations!
As previously stated, it can be dangerous out on the mud if it is necessary to inspect right down to the sinker.

Put me in on your team.
I’d be keen to check my mooring with a team in the first instance, to ensure I’m doing it properly
I would be happy to help mooring team. Ivor
