Mooring chain

Hello all,

This year I have changed my chain supplier to a local source. This has reduced costs both in terms of chain and carriage. However some types  of chain have become more scarce since the beginning of this year. I have had two deliveries of chain neither which were exactly  as specified. This chain can only be used as riser and will not fit through buoys. I have pre cut old chain to fit through the buoys to segments of about 12 links.
These pre cut lengths WILL not be used for any other purpose apart from going through the buoy.
Please seek advise before carrying out mooring work so correct materials can be supplied.
I would advise members  to make some assessment of what repairs are needed for their moorings before next season. A mooring check, carried out in the previous 12 months, will be required from members before next year’s lift ins.

Graham.

    Hello Graham.
I’m hoping to check my dads mooring (no58)
on 16 September depending on availability of the pontoon and weather conditions.
Is it available for use on that day?
Would it be possible for you to make available the chain, shackles and swivels I may need please?
I have my own battery tools and equipment that may be needed to carry out the replacement of worn chains.
    Paul.
