Hello, Bellow is an edited version of an email I have been sent by Mel Johnson. It’s not clear if they expect applications via club or individuals. To cut out the middle man I would suggest direct application by those interested. Might be an idea to add to the list of details that you belong to LHYC.
Mel Johnson, one of the Maritime Operations Officers at HM Coastguard Dover, has been working on an engagement project to invite local Yachtsman into the Maritime Operations Centre at Dover for an evening of short presentations geared around Recreational Yacht Safety plus a short tour of the Ops’ Room to see how the Coastguard operates.
A pilot evening has been completed and having received very positive feedback they are aiming to start the rollout over the next few months with the first event being from 1800 Friday 11th July at Dover Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre (MRCC).
The evenings will be limited to a maximum of 16 guests per event, delivered free of charge with places being allocated on a “first come, first served” basis and a reserve and waiting list for subsequent evenings. Club members are invited to attend with the evenings being aimed predominantly at Owners/Skippers of Sea Going (coastal and above) Sail and Motor Yachts.
A brief outline of the evening is as follows:
