Boom bracket rebuild

The boom bracket on my 1981 Moody 29 was showing signs of serious wear, and as this is not something you want to fail, I decided it should be replaced. I contacted Allspars, who deal in all kinds of rigging hardware, only to be told that the bracket was obsolete and no alternative was available. This could potentially have meant replacing the boom – and would also require drilling additional holes in the mast to accommodate a totally diifferent fitting. Allspars suggested I send them the worn out bracket and they would see what their workshop could do. They fully rebuilt it for £120 – and when it came back it looked like new – a cracking job!

I joined in 2022 and sail a Moody 29. I recently joined the committee as I have volunteered to take over from Mawson as Treasurer, if approved by the AGM of course!
