Revised cost of membership for “social” members.

Hello,
When the annual membership was reduced from £120 to £70 the old country membership, then £67 was scrapped and all members were given voting rights.
Due to increasing club costs, fees for membership and moorings have risen over the last couple of years by small amounts, but we feel that £80 membership for those, mostly retired members who only remain members for social events has been disproportionate. We have decided to reintroduce a social rate of £60 which will be retrospective for this year. We hope this measure will encourage retiring members to remain part of the club.

To qualify for social membership the following will need to apply.
1. No boat of any kind or sundry equipment owned by the member is to be stored or used at the club.
2. Social membership will exclude the need to attend work parties.
3. There will be no voting rights at the AGM
4. If the member acquires a boat, that uses club facilities, an extra fee will be charged during that year, reverting the member to full membership.

Those who believe they qualify and would like a £20 rebate please contact the treasurer confirming bank details and he will arrange the refund.

    Hi Graham
Good decision! I had decided to resign at the end of this season but now I’ll reconsider. Most retired/social members have put many years into the club as committee members and officers and I think this rebate and reduced fee will help them to feel that remaining in the club is worthwhile.
I look forward to getting my rebate (off next year’s subs if that suits) in due course.

I think this is a sound decision and will encourage support from us “retired sailors” or sailors that keep their boats elsewhere. Well done!
